My Insanity Fit Test Results

Today was our third scheduled Insanity fit test of this round of Insanity!

Building on the lessons learned from my last Insanity fit test, I made some nice improvements in a couple of key areas on which I tried to focus, and I am happy with the overall results. That being said, there is also room for improvement - there is always room for improvement!

Here are my results from my 3rd Insanity fit test:

Insanity Fit Test #1 vs. Insanity Fit Test #3

Insanity Fit Test #1Insanity Fit Test #2Insanity Fit Test #3Change
Switch Kicks98114123+25 (26%)
Power Jacks495160+11 (22%)
Power Knees678291+24 (36%)
Power Jumps333643+10 (30%)
Globe Jumps101113+3 (30%)
Suicide Jumps131719+6 (46%)
Push-Up Jacks182735+17 (94%)
Low Plank Oblique4037*54+14 (35%)

In percentage terms I made double-digit improvements in every single category during this time when compared to the results posted during my first Insanity fit test! I am quite happy with the results!

Like most people doing the Insanity workout taking the fit test, I am beat by the time we hit power jumps; however, despite the seemingly paltry gains in globe jumps and push-up jacks (adding 3 and 6 reps to each, respectively), keep in mind that we are beginning with a smaller base...so it's tougher to show double-digit gains in these two categories (though the gains when expressed in percentage terms are, in fact, double-digit gains). :)

Were I to reverse the order (perhaps I'll do that once I become an Insanity graduate and complete the workout program as designed), I suspect I could add a few more of each!

For those who didn't read my second Insanity fit test post, the 37* reps during the last fit test resulted from the fact that I had peeked at the numbers prior to doing each set, but though I had done 30 low-plank obliques last time. Well, something happens to your memory when you are dripping with sweat and down in a low plank slamming your obliques! I recounted, "How many did I do again? 30? Boom - 37!" And I collapsed to the floor just as Shaun T. started the '10...9...8...' countdown. Whoopsie.

So where do we go from here? Well, we come out of our so-called 'recovery week' and hit the ground running with the Insanity max circuits!

For my next fit test, I am going to really focus on the push-ups. This is the one category where I should be able to post larger numbers, given that I used to be able to do 120 push-ups in 2 minutes during my Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), but adding the 'jack' dimension is a game changer. :)

Moreover, I am really working the abs lately, adding extra 'Cardio Abs' workouts, so I want to really want to crush the low-plank obliques more, too.

Must...Dig...Deeper.
